Chapter
4: Assault At The Hospital.
Hunter
paced back and forth on the white tiled floor in the hospital room. Once in a
while he stopped to stare at Billy who was seated next to Jesse’s sleeping
form. Waiting impatiently for him to wake up.
Billy
had been told by the nurses to stay in his own bed. To get some rest. But Billy
didn’t care what anyone told him. He just wanted to be there for Jesse when he
returned to consciousness.
At
first when Billy had woken up in the hospital bed he had desperately been asking
where Jesse was, afraid something terrible had happened to him. When he had been
told he was in another room, still sleeping then he had instantly gotten out of
the bed.
Nurses
had kept him in bed and when they left he had taken the chance and went to
Jesse’s side.
Billy
was scared when he saw that Jesse had been unconscious, not knowing what had
happened after he had passed out the day before. When Mick had viciously
assaulted them both!
Hunter
had been there with Jesse when Billy entered the room. He told him about what
had happened to Jesse.
They
didn’t know when he would wake up. The doctor had said he had a concussion and
that he might not wake up until tomorrow. But Billy was still hoping, which was
the reason why he was now sitting by Jesse’s side instead of resting.
Hunter
sighed and walked up behind Billy, resting his hands soothingly on Billy’s
shoulders. “Maybe you should get some sleep. I’ll stay here and watch
him…” his voice was coated with concern. Billy only shook his head, refusing
to leave. “I wanna stay. I want to be here when he wakes up!”
Hunter
nodded, understanding. “I know, but… you don’t know if he’ll wake up
today…” he tried, but Billy was stubborn and stayed where he was.
“I’m
gonna get some coffee… you want some?” he then asked, heading towards the
door. Billy didn’t say a word. Hunter took that as a ‘no’. He carefully
closed the door behind him.
Closing
his eyes, Billy inhaled deeply. He was tired, yes, but he didn’t want to leave
Jesse! He didn’t want him to be hurt anymore.
Yawning,
he bent to rest his forehead on the mattress, clutching Jesse’s hand tightly.
He winced slightly as his own stitches were still hurting a bit. He had been so
lucky, getting away with only some stitches on his forehead.
Suddenly
feeling a light pressure around his fingers, he quickly raised his head, looking
down on his and Jesse’s hand. He smiled brightly, noticing Jesse’s fingers
moving. He felt him gently squeeze his hand. He then looked at Jesse’s face.
He was slowly beginning to wake up!
“Jesse…?” he gently asked as he saw him open his eyes. Blinking, Jesse adjusted his vision to the brightness in the room. He had a pounding headache. He winced slightly as he turned to look at Billy. “Billy…? Are you ok?” he reached out to touch Billy’s face to confirm he was really there. Billy chuckled lightly and nodded.
“Yeah, I’m just fine…”
Jesse smiled faintly, nodding. “That’s great…” He signed heavily, closing his eyes in an attempt to ignore his headache.
Abruptly, something hard cracked against the back of Billy’s skull causing him to collapse unconscious onto the floor. Jesse yelped in fear, instinctively jumping out of the bed, nearly tripping in the sheets as he tried to get away from the person before him.
It was Mick! Jesse could feel his body beginning to lightly quiver. He gazed down at the form of Billy and then returned his gaze at Mick. He was smiling. A smile which reminded Jesse about those psychopaths you see on television.
Slowly, Jesse backed up against the cold wall, his eyes huge. He felt panic rise up in him, not knowing what to do. His head was pounding, his mind clouded. He was frightened. He didn’t like the crazed look on Mick’s face.
Mick came closer, one step at a time. Jesse was trapped in the corner and he figured the only way to get away would be to defend himself. He tried his best and gave his best punch, connecting his knuckles with Mick’s jaw, sending him onto his back on the hard surface of the floor.
Mick rubbed his sore jaw, laughing lightly. He was indeed impressed! Jesse had begun to fight back.
Running towards Billy, Jesse thought he might be able to escape together with Billy. However Mick caught his leg, bringing him to the floor and then crawled over him, grabbing his braids. He yanked his head back and then forcefully knocked his forehead down onto the floor.
Jesse whimpered harshly, feeling his eyebrow being torn apart; his vision flickering and a sudden taste of iron in his mouth.
Mick reached out towards the wall, searching for something specific, still holding Jesse’s face pressed against the floor. He smiled when he found just what he needed. Cords.
He spun Jesse around, watching the dazed younger man as he yanked his head forward and began winding the cords around his neck. He straddled his hips to keep him secure against the floor, tightening the cords as he did so.
He closed his eyes as he felt Jesse writhe and struggle under him, listening to his hitched gasps. He could feel his fingers desperately trying to hold on to something to be able to push Mick off him. He was unable to find anything though.
He closed his eyes, his lips parted as he struggled for breath. “Come on, Jesse! Just let go!” he panted harshly, pulling the cords forcefully.
Just as Jesse was on the brink of losing consciousness, Mick’s head snapped up. Billy! The bastard was awake and was fighting to get back on his feet. Mick was forced to let go and he was gone just as fast as he had arrived.
Jesse kept gasping for breath, body shaking violently, frantically trying to loosen the cords. Billy was quick to emerge by Jesse’s side and began removing the cords from his neck.
Coughing and barely able to breathe, Jesse rolled onto his side. Billy instantly pulled him into his embrace, holding him as he started breathing again. Tears were staining the younger man’s face as he dizzily glanced up at Billy.
“What the hell happened here?!” Hunter exclaimed in obvious shock when he returned to the room, dropping his coffee onto the floor. He ran towards them both in the far end of the room and then kneeled down in front of them.
“What happened?” he repeated. Billy hesitated for a second then answered, “It was Mick… He was here!”
“Mick?! Son of a bitch…!” Hunter’s shoulders slumped down as he stared at Jesse, noticing the bruises already decorating Jesse’s neck.
“I’m gonna fucking kill the bastard…” Billy murmured to himself. Raising his gaze, he stared at Hunter who was in complete shock and confusion.
“I’m gonna get some doctors…” Hunter then rushed out of the room, leaving Billy to take care of Jesse for now.
